Injerto (Graft) engages in a dialogue around the fracture and loss of meaning of certain systems, structures, and orders of things, based on sculptures born from the breach: architectural fragments extracted from ruined buildings. The ruin, that remnant of the past that insists on inhabiting a space-time alien to it, embodies truncated stories, narratives that are exhausted and perish. In this sense, the work is articulated as a poetic gesture of activating these interrupted memories through the creative reinvention of their absences. Inspired by contemporary techniques for the restoration and conservation of heritage buildings, the artist fuses the collected vestiges with metallic forms; abstract extensions that reimagine what was lost, integrating “organically” like a graft into historical evidence. With this sort of visual and symbolic palimpsest, the work not only recontextualizes what was dismembered but also proposes an exercise in fictional archeology where the residual acquires aesthetic autonomy.
