De lágrimas (Of tears) is a piece whose morphology describes a flagpole, the latter being simulated with the characteristic accessories of chandelier lamps: chains with crystal prisms topped with teardrop-shaped beads. As a poem-object, the work in enunciated from its formal constitution, proposing readings related to the crisis´ state of a nation. It becomes a subtle portrait of the feeling of a community, contrasted with its apparent grandiloquence. The duality between its aesthetic hedonism and symbolic background comments on that illusion of status of a nationalist ideal that has fallen into decline. Its suitability for use as a light fixture warns of its ambivalent nature: sculpture or design, perhaps both in communion, connoting the use -and abuse- of a mirage.
